ESR Processing of a New High Pressure Die Casting Steel. Dissemination action at ESTAD 2021 congress
The 5th ESTAD 2021 congress focuses on the latest trends and issues and provides a wide networking and information platform for equipment and service suppliers, plant manufacturers, steelmakers and scientists. A dissemination action at ESTAD 2021 will be performed by the consortium. The most relevant info about the project will be presented. It will take place on August 30th to September 2nd, 2021.
SWG will present on 11th May from 10:45 to 11:05 about the development of hot work steel concept for structural die casting
The high-pressure die-casting industries are currently experiencing a period marked by uncertainty and changes due to the progressive replacement of combustion cars by electric vehicles, implying the need for vehicle light-weighting.
Structural die-castings are becoming more and more common with die and machines becoming larger and more complex. New steels with improved properties are being developed to improve the die’s life and to reduce the re-working costs.
The HPDCSTEEL project has developed a new steel reinforced with synthetic carbides thar increase the wearing resistance and the live of the die without promoting over-costs in the machining operations.

A new general meeting of HPDCSTEEL project was held during the EUOGUSS 2020 International Fair with three individual stands. In the three stands (SWG, LEBARIO and 2a S.P.A), the HPDCSTEEL project was promoted into the assistants with leaflets and also with a personal high interaction with visitors. The biannual fair for Die Casting was held from 14th to 16th January, with a record in visitors and stands.
The first-year general meeting was held at Schmiedewerke Gröditz GmbH (SWG) on 23th and 24th of October 2018. Project partners reviewed the development of the project and the scheduled activities.
All the participants showed their work to the rest of participants and the progress of the project was check with the future schedule.
The project is running under the scheduled time and budget and the participants are confident in the success of the project.
The presence of all the participants was employed to perform a plant visit, in order to define the equipment and processes to be employed in the industrial manufacturing of new developed steels.
TECNALIA was in METAL 2018 International Fair with an individual stand. In the stand the HPDCSTEEL project was promoted into the assistants with leaflets and also with a personal high interaction with visitors. The fair was held in Kielce (Poland) from 25th to 27th September, with more than 3.000 Visitors and 300 exhibitors.
TECNALIA was in BIEMH 2018 International Fair with three individual stands. In the three stands the HPDCSTEEL project was promoted into the assistants with leaflets and also with a personal high interaction with visitors. The fair was held in Bilbao (Spain)from 28th May to 1st June, with more than 42.000 Visitors.
SWG, Fonderie 2A and Lebario Ro were presented in Euroguss 2018 International Fair, everyone with an individual stand. The three enterprises promoted the HPDCSTEEL project into the assistants, with a high interaction with visitors.
The sixth month general meeting was held at Euroguss 2018 on January the 17th. Project partners reviewed the development of the project and the scheduled activities.
Participation in Euroguss 2018 International Trade Fair for Die Casting: Technology, Processes, Products. SWG, LEBARIO RO and 2A SPA with individuals stands. More than 12.000 visitors and 600 exhibitors, 16 –18 January 2018.
Partners had finally the opportunity to meet in person at the project Kick-Off Meeting held in Tecnalia’s installation in Derio. During the meeting, project contents were examined into details, and next technical activities were scheduled.
