2A SPA (2A SPA)
2A is a private owned aluminium global die-casting foundry specialized in the development and production of automotive and industrial components. 2A was born in 1974 as a small zamak die-casting foundry integrated in the zippers production department of the mother company: roughly ten years later, the company started to sell its own casting technology to the national automotive industry and to Telecom and computer application. In order to follow the growing Customers demand, whom where asking for bigger parts made by aluminium alloys, in 1989 2A bought 4 different foundries and consolidated them.
Today, 2A is the first aluminium die-casting foundry in its region and owns the biggest existing die-casting press worldwide and starts to have a global presence. 2A is a complete die-casting partner: Delivers pieces from few grams up to the biggest. 2A machines, coats and assembles them. It’s the largest Italian HPDC foundry, with the largest set of private HPDC cells in Europe (7>2.500Tons) and with a foundry capable of producing T6 HPCD parts.
Main tasks in the project:
- To perform HPDC tests with new HPDC dies under industrial conditions
- To study the response of new steel and make the comparison with the current one
- To analyse the potential of the new steel in terms of cost (LCC), environmental impact (LCA) and performance.
- Analysis of the potential use of the new steel for other casting processes dies or tooling.
- Analysis of the economic and environmental impacts and dissemination.
